Jamaica Wedding Travel Requirements and Information*

Please ensure that your documents are in order when travelling abroad.
Passports
For most caribbean travel a valid passport or passport and visa may be
required depending on your nationality, travel destination, and country or
countries in which connections take place.

Birth Certificates
As proof of citizenship, some countries in the Caribbean may allow an official
state issued birth certificate. (these have a raised stamped seal) Hospital birth
certificates, including military hospital birth certificates, are never acceptable
for international travel.

Children Traveling Without Both Parents
Many governments have initiated procedures requiring documentary evidence
of relationship and permission of the parent(s) for children traveling without
both parents. These countries require parent(s) to have a notarized letter of
consent from the absent parent(s) for the minor to enter the country.

Married/Divorced Women
Married/Divorced women traveling in any name other than what is on their
documentation must first supply a marriage license/divorce decree.

Requirements for having a marriage in the Bahamas

Required Documentation

Residency Couples being married must be in The Bahamas for 24 hours prior to
wedding date.
The couple planning a Saturday or Sunday wedding should arrive in The
Bahamas by Thursday.
Your Pelican Bay Hotel Wedding Planner will arrange for personal transport to
and from the Courthouse and assist in filing of all necessary paperwork.
The cost is included in your Wedding Ceremony Package.
Documents Required

Photo ID – Driver's License Valid Passport or Certified, raised seal copy of your
Birth Certificate
Bahamas Immigration card (provided to you upon arrival to Bahamas)
Certified copy of original of the divorce decree if divorced

Marriage:
It's easy to get married in St Lucia. You just need to stay here for 2 days
before the wedding. After you've been here for 2 days a local Solicitor can
apply for a license on your behalf. You need to have received this 2 working
days before the wedding date. Most tour operators can make all the
arrangements. All you need to bring is the following documentation:

Passport
Birth Certificate
Decree Absolute (if one of the parties is divorced)
In the case of a widow/widower a Death Certificate of first spouse is required
If a name has been changed, a Deed Poll is required
If one of the parties is under the age of 18, evidence of a consent of parents is
required in the form of a sworn affidavit stamped by a Notary Public
If any required documents are not in English, an authenticated translation must
be available


Residency
Application to be married in St. Lucia must be made by a local solicitor to the
Attorney General or notary who prepares and signs the licence after a two-day
residency period in St. Lucia. The Attorney-General should receive the
application about four working days before the Wedding date.

All of these details are taken care of by your hotel from whom a variety of
Wedding packages are available. However you may wish to speak to your
Reps or Tour Operator about getting married in St. Lucia.

The hotels can also usually arrange any other requirements – bridal bouquet,
button holes and other floral arrangements, photos, video, steelband music,
wedding cake etc. Prices vary
